First, Al-Khidr made a hole in a boat. Second, he ended the life of a young boy. Third, he fixed a wall in a city for free even though the people there had refused to give them food.

Then Al-Khidr explained: the boat belonged to poor people and a cruel king was seizing every good ship by force, so he damaged it to save it. The boy would have caused great harm to his believing parents. Under the wall was treasure belonging to two orphan children whose father had been righteous. Al-Khidr said: I did none of it on my own accord. That is the meaning of what you could not bear with patience.

He went out before his people in his adornment. Then Allah caused the earth to swallow him and his home. Those who had wished to be in his position said: Allah extends His provision to whom He wills. If not that Allah had been good to us, He would have swallowed us too.
