Sulayman (AS) was the son of Dawud (AS). Allah gave him a truly amazing kingdom. One of his gifts was being able to understand the speech of birds and animals.
One day he heard a tiny ant say to all the other ants: O ants, go into your homes! Sulayman (AS) and his soldiers are coming and they might step on you without meaning to.
Sulayman (AS) smiled and laughed when he heard her words. He turned to Allah and said: My Lord, help me to always be thankful for the gifts You gave me and my parents, and to do good things that please You. And let me enter with Your good servants. π
Sulayman (AS) heard even the smallest creature and cared about it. Every living thing matters to Allah. Be kind to animals and every creature around you. π
Allah gave Sulayman (AS) control over the wind. The wind would travel for one month in the morning and one month in the evening, all at his command. π¬οΈ
Allah also gave him power over the jinns. They built tall chambers, statues, large basins like ponds, and big fixed cooking pots for him.
Allah told the jinns: Work for Sulayman (AS). Whoever turns away from My command, I will give him the punishment of the Fire.
Allah gave Sulayman (AS) gifts that no one before or after him ever had. He used them all to serve Allah. Whatever gifts you have, big or small, use them for good. π
One day the hoopoe bird came to Sulayman (AS) with news. It had found a queen who ruled a great kingdom, but she and her people were bowing down to the sun instead of Allah.
Sulayman (AS) sent her a letter. It said: In the name of Allah, the Most Kind, the Most Merciful. Do not think you are too great. Come to me and submit to Allah.
The Queen read the letter and decided to come and visit Sulayman (AS). Before she arrived, Sulayman (AS) asked his court: Who can bring me her throne before she gets here?
A strong jinn said: I can bring it to you before you get up from your seat. Then a man who had knowledge from the Book said: I will bring it to you before your eye can look away. And the throne appeared right in front of Sulayman (AS)!
Sulayman (AS) said: This is from the favour of my Lord, to test me whether I am thankful or not.
When the Queen arrived, the floor of Sulayman (AS)'s palace looked like still water. She thought it was a real pool and lifted her dress to walk through it. Sulayman (AS) told her it was just smooth glass.
When she saw all of this, she said: My Lord, I have wronged myself. I now submit with Sulayman (AS) to Allah, the Lord of all the worlds. π
Sulayman (AS) called the Queen to Allah with wisdom and kindness. She saw the truth and accepted it. Calling people to good with good manners is a powerful thing. ποΈ
Allah tested Sulayman (AS) with a hard trial. Allah says in the Quran: We tested Sulayman (AS) and placed a body on his throne. Then he turned back to his Lord.
Sulayman (AS) turned to Allah and said: My Lord, forgive me and give me a kingdom that no one after me will ever have. You are the One who gives.
Allah accepted his prayer. Allah gave him the wind, the jinns, and an amazing kingdom. Allah also said about Sulayman (AS): What a wonderful servant he was. He always turned back to Allah.
Even a great Prophet and King was tested. When something hard happens, turn back to Allah and ask for His help. He always hears. π
Sulayman (AS) was given a kingdom like no one before or after him. The wind, the jinns, and the birds were all at his command. Yet through it all, he was always thankful to Allah and always turned back to Him.
