Yunus (AS) was sent to the people of Nineveh. He called them to Allah. Then he left in anger without waiting for Allah's permission.
He got on a ship. When the sailors drew lots to see who would be thrown into the sea, Yunus (AS) lost. He went into the sea and a whale swallowed him.
Yunus (AS) was now in the darknesses: the darkness inside the whale, the darkness of the sea, and the darkness of the night. But Allah heard him.
No matter where you are or how hard things get, Allah hears you when you call to Him. 🐋
Inside the whale, in the dark, Yunus (AS) called to Allah with these words:
Laa ilaaha illa anta subhanaka inni kuntu mina-dhalimeen.
There is no god but You. Glory be to You. I was of those who did wrong.
Allah answered him and saved him from his distress. Yunus (AS) was brought out and placed on the open shore while he was sick. Allah caused a gourd plant to grow over him for shade. 🌿
As for the people he was sent to, Allah says: We sent him to a hundred thousand or more. And they believed, so We gave them enjoyment for a time.
Learn this dua and say it when things are hard. Laa ilaaha illa anta subhanaka inni kuntu mina-dhalimeen. Allah answered Yunus (AS) and He can answer you too. 🤲
Allah tells us in the Quran to be patient and not to leave without permission, like Yunus (AS) did.
Allah says: Do not be like the companion of the whale, when he called out while he was in distress. Had a favour from his Lord not reached him, he would have been thrown onto the shore while he was blamed.
But Yunus (AS) kept glorifying Allah inside the whale. The Quran says he was of those who glorify Allah. Because of this, Allah saved him and made him of the righteous.
When things are hard, be patient and keep remembering Allah. Do not give up. Allah is with those who are patient and keep turning to Him. 💛
Yunus (AS) called to Allah in the dark and Allah answered him. His dua is a dua every Muslim can say. When we are in a hard place, we turn to Allah and trust that He will answer.
